Common Questions

Find quick answers about our roadmaps and contribution process.

Unlike other platforms, CampusCompass does not use AI recommendations. It relies on curated, peer-vetted static JSON roadmaps. This ensures the curriculum is focused, structured, and free of AI hallucinations.

The dashboard reads the skill tags on your profile. It performs a case-insensitive search matching those tag strings against the topic names and descriptions in your roadmap. When matches are found, it checks them off and recalculates your overall progress.

Yes. The project uses a local, lightweight file database (`data/users.json`). There are no external database cloud logins or local database servers required, meaning you can boot and develop the project 100% offline.

Absolutely! We welcome student contributions, particularly during open-source events. You can create a new career JSON file (e.g., `mobile-developer.json`) under `data/roadmaps/` and add it to our config files. Read our `CONTRIBUTING.md` file for details.
